Joel Chandler Harris letter to E.C. Stedman, ca. 1887.

Harris writes to Stedman, 24 Feb., apologizing for not responding sooner to his son's letter, explaining that he was out of town and the original letter had been appropriated by one of his children as a dollhouse carpet. He gives permission for his works to be used as Stedman requested, and directs him to an engraving of himself that appeared in the Book-buyer. Probably for Stedman's Library of American literature from the earliest settlement to the present time.
